VUZF University is organizing second international conference „Pan-European Personal Pension Product (PEPP) – regulation and technical standards towards market realization

Laboratory for Applied Scientific Research (VUZF Lab) to the VUZF University is organizing second international conference on PEPP (Pan-European Personal Pension Product). The topic of the event is “PEPP – regulation and technical standards towards market realization“

Conference is organized under the patronage of Mr. Boyko Atanasov, the Chair of the Financial Supervision Commission. It will be held on 29-30 October 2020 at VUZF University, Main Ceremonial Hall, 1 Gusla Str, Sofia.

The International Conference is the second step of VUZF’s initiatives after the organization of the large international conference „Pan-European Personal Pension Product (PEPP – Regulation, Effects and Problems“) within the Bulgarian Presidency of the Council of the EU, held in May 2018.

The introduction of this unified regime in EU raises many questions for resolution as at the EU level, as well as at the level of every Member State. In addition, this regime raises another question whether there will be any changes at the long-term savings market. The issue is especially topical because the PEPP Regulation came into force in 14 August 2019. August 2020 is expected to be delivered advice and technical standards to COM.

The initiative under the line of establishment of Capital Market Union, CMU is to provide better opportunities for savers. One of the aims of the European Commission (ЕC) with the implementation of PEPP is additional accumulation of fixed assets for investment in the economies of the EU Member States. This will enable the creation of work places and income growth of the Community population. According to the European Commission, PEPP has the potential to accumulate additionally EUR 700 billion by 2030.

Conference will be opened by Assoc. Prof. Grigorii Vazov, Rector of VUZF University,  and Mr. Boyko Atanasov, Chair of the Financial Supervision Commission.

The event will take place on two consecutive days and is structured in four panels. The aim is to have an open scientific and expert discussion on the problems of the forthcoming market realization of the Pan-European Personal Pension Product (PEPP).

The first panel will be dedicated to the role of technical standards and Level 2’ legislation for the marketing of PEPP. The focus of the second panel is the characteristics of PEPP in the context of achieving the goals and role of a personal pension savings product.
