Sophia Kassidova

Sophia Kassidova is the corporate and development strategist of the BDB. Her professional career spans over 25 years in development banking as the CFO of the BSTDB, in investment banking at CSFB and in corporate banking. She also served as a deputy minister of economy and deputy minister of transport in the government of Simeon SaxeCobourg from 2001 through 2005. She also held roles as chairperson of Biochim Bank (currently UnicreditBank, Bulgaria), member of the board of the National Electricity Company.

Sophia Kassidova holds a graduate diploma in financial strategy from Said Business School of Oxford University, a master’s degree in economics from the University of the State of New York and CEU and a master in international banking from the University of Reading, the UK.

Currently she is concluding a PhD research at the University of National and World Economy in Sofia. Her academic research studies the impact of postcrises banking regulation on the business models of Bulgarian banks. She has a few publications on the subject.
