Natalia Petrova, PhD

Natalia Petrova has over 17 years of working experience in asset management, capital markets, equity and fixed income trading, UCITS products and services. She is holding licenses from the Bulgarian Financial Supervision Commission to provide investment consulting and brokerage as well as a certificate for trading with government securities from the Ministry of Finance of Republic of Bulgaria. Currently she is engaged as an Executive director of Concord Asset Management, which is the biggest non-bank asset manager in Bulgaria, and as a Director in the Board of Directors at ITI FUNDS UCITS ETF SICAV. Previously Natalia was a member of the Management Board responsible for Portfolio Management of Raiffeisen Asset Management, Bulgaria which was the biggest asset management company in country. Before she has been in charge of the portfolio management at UBB Asset Management, currently part of KBC Group. She is a representative of Concord Asset Management as a member of the Management Board of the Bulgarian Association of Asset Management Companies (BAAMC). She was elected by the Management Board of BAAMC to be representative of the Association in the following projects and entities:

– Representative at National Stakeholder Group with regards to European Central Bank’s project for harmonization of European financial markets;
– Representative at Working Group to the Ministry of Finance of Republic of Bulgaria within a mutual project with OECD and Netherlands for increasing financial literacy of the population;
– Representative at European Funds and Asset Management Association (EFAMA) at Working Group “Investors Education Program”;
– Member of the Conciliation Commission to the Consumer Protection Commission at Ministry of Economy of Bulgaria with regards to Capital markets issues.

    While having her job at Raiffeisen Asset Management, she has been a Chair of the Regular Investment Committee and Member of the Extended Investment Committee.

    In addition, she has over 15 years of experience as a Capital Markets and Corporate Finance lecturer at the University of National and World Economy, Bulgaria. In 2017, she began teaching Portfolio Management at the University of Insurance and Finance (VUZF), Bulgaria. She speaks Bulgarian (native), English, Spanish and Russian (basic).

    Natalia was awarded a PhD certificate from the University of National and World Economy, Bulgaria with a topic of the dissertation: “Study of the conditions and factors for market performance of exchange-traded funds and the possibilities for their development in Bulgaria”. The subject of the study is the profitability of exchange-traded funds, measured by the indicator for tracking efficiency of the adjacent benchmark, and the object of the study are exchange-traded funds as types of financial instruments. The dissertation represents an in-depth research of the exchange-traded funds in emerging markets in Europe, including Bulgaria.

    In 2020 Concord Asset Management was awarded by Global Banking and Finance Awards “Asset Management Company of the Year Bulgaria 2020”, “Fastest Growing Fund Management Company Bulgaria 2020” and was winner of “The Next 100 Global Awards 2020” During her professional development, it is worth to outline the following achievements which are also considered an innovation for the Bulgarian capital market. When joining Concord Asset Management, the company has doubled in AuM in UCITS funds in only two years; the first interactive learning for investors in the country was made; the first platform for investing in mutual funds remotely from any bank account into the country was introduced; for first time digital onboarding of clients using eID application was introduced in asset management company. During over 15 years of her career, she has been part of the management of different asset management companies where they have introduced for first time regular saving plans in Bulgaria; they have structured the first UCITS fund with mechanism for capital protection; they have introduced for first time Master-Feeder schemes in the country. Many other projects are still pending to become valuable part of the above list concerning new financial instruments and market infrastructure.

    With strong business development and demonstrated interpersonal skills, Natalia has approved to be a leader at any team with regards to negotiations, sales and innovations. Her personal conviction for the importance to achieve high level of information and education, has leaded her to organize companies and banks educational programs and events.
